Chief CFC Instructor: Bruce

Raised in New York, Bruce began, at an early age, defending himself and his younger brother from the gangs that roamed their school, playground, and neighborhood. This experience led him to study various traditional martial arts like Judo, Aikido, Karate, Wing Chun and Tae Kwon do. Because of those early years, Bruce felt the need of helping children protect themselves from the dangers they face every day. As a Nationally Certified Childrens Safety Instructor, Bruce is able to provide this support through the radKIDS program.

Besides working with kids, Bruce is also a Certifited Personal Protection Instructor for adults. In 2000 Bruce was exposed to Krav Maga an Israeli form of self defense. He was so impressed with Krav Maga's reality of training that he became a certified Krav Maga instructor in California. Ever since, Bruce has been teaching various Krav Maga courses here in Tucson at the University of Arizona.

As a U.S. Marine with over 25 years of "Combat Arts" experience, Bruce has trained U.S. Marine, U.S. Army, and Foreign Military units in Combative Tactics. Bruce's passion is training his fellow American citizen in all aspects of self-defense. From teaching children to protect themselves from bullies and predators to empowering assault survivors in women's shelters, Bruce strives to increase his student's level of awareness, safety, and confidence through vigorous mental, emotional and physical regimens. His innovative conditioning drills shock many of his students into the reality of combat on the street. His no-nonsense approach to fighting and training hard has earned Bruce the respect from his dedicated students.

Although a Blackbelt, Bruce continues his own training as a student in the Elite Combat Arts of Kapap, Systema, and Kajukenbo. His research into the current tactics employed by thugs on the street and the fear that may affect a defender's performance has led to the development of the most comprehensive training system in Tucson, "Combat Fit". This innovative system incorporates practical combative sequencing, realistic personal protection tactics, simulated scenarios and functional movement drills, all designed to help the student understand what really happens during a street attack and what to do to survive it.

Lead CFC coach: Summer

Summer has been a dedicated student of Krav Maga and the Combat Fit "Close Quarter Combatives Program" since 2001, training under the guidance of her husband and training partner, Bruce.

Summer's desire to learn and sustain practical protection techniques has guided her into teaching others these life enhancing skills, especially to those who often need it the most – children. Hence, in early 2006, Summer became a certified radKIDS instructor and began teaching the radKIDS safety program independently. The innovative curriculum of radKIDS allows Summer to interact with children in a playful but professional manner, as they learn about the dangers of guns, drugs, poisons, bullies, and predators. This exceptional family oriented and nationally recognized children's safety program covers many critical topics that are delicately covered by Summer.

Her instructional skills are also enhanced by her teaching experience as a Salsa Latin Dance Instructor. Her patience and her use of versatile teaching methods makes her students, whether they are learning Salsa or self-defense, feel comfortable, confident and well informed.

radKIDS Executive Director, Steve Daley

Stephen M. Daley assumed the responsibilities and duties of the first Executive Director of radKIDS® after working in the field of law enforcement for over 20 years.

His diverse educational background includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Bryant College as well as a Masters Degree in Education from Cambridge College. Steve's Masters Degree included specialized concentrations in Elementary Education and Accelerated Learning Theories.

Steve began his journey to radKIDS® by entering the law enforcement field in Ogunquit, Maine in 1978. After working as a police officer extensively in Maine and Florida, he settled in Massachusetts. In 1985, Steve joined the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Department of Public Safety and rose to the rank of Night Commander before leaving for radKIDS® in 1999.

Steve Daley is an accomplished trainer and instructor specializing in police officer safety training, officer survival skills, conflict resolution, and communication skills both on a national level and for the Mass Criminal Justice Training Council. He enjoys the time he spends training law enforcement officers and remains active. He is proud to say that he has trained over 5000 officers during his law enforcement-training career.

Steve expanded his personal safety instruction when introduced to RAD for women's in 1993. While working with RAD as an Instructor-Trainer and Staff Instructor, Steve assisted many instructors in bringing RAD for women to their communities as well as assisting in the start up growth and development of radKIDS®.

While holding virtually every position available in law enforcement from Patrol Officer to Chief of Police, Steve was successful in achieving most of his career goals but he was never able to fully reach his true life's goal of helping children to escape violence. In 1999, with the support of his wife, Colleen and son Corey, Steve retired from a distinguished law enforcement career to become the Executive Director of radKIDS®.

His involvement in the radKIDS® foundational research and development committee convinced him that the radKIDS® approach to empowering children had the potential to make a difference in thousands of children's lives. Steve believes that it is not only every child's right to realistic and empowering safety education but it is our responsibility as adults and parents to provide it. radKIDS® is dedicated to providing all communities, children and parents with the ability to recognize, avoid, resist and escape personal violence and harm.

Today, Steve continues to promote the radKIDS® program from radKIDS® headquarters located in South Dennis, MA. He promotes and teaches the radKIDS® program. He travels extensively across the country empowering communities with their own radKIDS® programs.

Most recently Steve formed an alliance with the Polly Klaas foundation in California and has appeared on the Americas Most Wanted television show to promote radKIDS®.
